Don’t Stress

Applicants with Hypertension May
Be Eligible for Preferred Plus Status.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a very common ailment in individuals over the age of 50 and may contribute to medical ailments that lead to a shortened life expectancy. Recent development of medications and treatment can now help control and decrease the risk of associated health complications.

That’s why, at Transamerica, we’ve enhanced our underwriting guidelines to allow individuals with hypertension to be considered for Preferred Plus status.

Applicants who are age 60 to 80 and are diagnosed with hypertension are eligible for Preferred Plus status providing:

  • They show good control over the past year (an average blood pressure reading
    of 140/85 or better)
  • Their exam readings are within Preferred Plus guidelines
  • No other medical conditions would eliminate them from Preferred Plus status consideration

Preferred Plus status eligibility for applicants with hypertension is only one of the many enhancements we’ve made to our underwriting guidelines.
